The Tinubu Torch Bearers (TTB) today, Friday, 21 August 2026, officially inaugurated its Local Government Coordinators for the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State at Crispan Hotel and Lounge, Jos.
The event brought together women leaders, political stakeholders and other dignitaries across the state, including Her Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Josephine Piyo, who represented the Executive Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang; Her Excellency, Barr. Helen Mutfwang, wife of the Governor; Dr. Esther Samuel Ali, APC Zonal Woman Leader, North-Central; Barr. Olivia Daziyam, Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender and Chairperson of the Plateau State Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission; Hon. Caroline Dafur, Plateau State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development; and Hon. Rufus Bature, Chairman of the Plateau State APC.
Also in attendance was Hajiya Farida Odangi Suleiman, APC FCT Woman Leader, who represented the APC National Woman Leader, Dr (Mrs) Mary Alile Idele, alongside women leaders from the 17 LGAs and several other dignitaries.
In her remarks, the host and APC Plateau State Woman Leader, Hon. Longret Tokden, reaffirmed the commitment of Plateau women to mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang in 2027. She also expressed appreciation to the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her various interventions and support for women, including persons living with disabilities, in Plateau State.
Hon. Tokden described women as a critical force in the political process and called for greater unity, commitment and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Plateau State APC Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, also charged the women to remain united and organised in galvanising support for President Tinubu and Governor Mutfwang. He emphasised the importance of grassroots mobilisation and the active participation of women in strengthening the party ahead of the elections.
Representing Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo first conveyed the Governor’s apology for his absence, noting that he would have loved to be physically present at the event because of his deep appreciation for and commitment to women.
She reaffirmed the Plateau State Government’s recognition of the important role women play in governance and political development, while encouraging them to remain committed to the peace, unity and progress of the state.
Her Excellency, Barr. Helen Mutfwang, in her remarks, reiterated Governor Mutfwang’s commitment to issues affecting women and assured them of his continued support. She also commended the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her consistent interventions and willingness to support Plateau State whenever the need arises.
Barr. Olivia Daziyam commended Plateau women for their impressive mobilisation during elections, describing them as a strong and dependable force in the political process. She pledged continued commitment towards mobilising women once again in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Caleb Mutfwang in 2027.
Similarly, Hon. Caroline Dafur reaffirmed her continued support for the women and the mobilisation efforts towards the forthcoming elections, urging them to remain united and purposeful.
The inauguration marked an important step in strengthening the grassroots structure of the Tinubu Torch Bearers across Plateau State. The climax of the event was the presentation of the APC flag to the newly inaugurated coordinators representing the 17 Local Government Areas, symbolising their responsibility to take the message and activities of the movement to the grassroots.
The event also featured colourful cultural performances, adding a rich touch of Plateau’s cultural heritage to the gathering.
With the inauguration of the 17 LGA coordinators, the Tinubu Torch Bearers have set the stage for a stronger grassroots mobilisation structure, with women at the centre of its efforts to promote political participation, unity and support ahead of the 2027 elections.
