Plateau State Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has charged newly appointed Special Advisers and Honorary Special Advisers to demonstrate commitment, integrity and accountability in the discharge of their duties, stressing that their appointments must translate into tangible benefits for the people.
The Governor gave the charge on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during the swearing-in ceremony held at Victoria Gowon Hall, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos. He reminded the appointees that public office was a call to service, requiring discipline, humility and a clear commitment to the development of Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang explained that the appointments were designed to strengthen the state’s governance structure, improve policy formulation and implementation, and bring additional expertise into the administration.
He urged the appointees to provide timely and practical advice, develop workable solutions to emerging challenges and ensure that government policies produce measurable improvements in the lives of citizens.
According to him, their appointments should not be seen merely as recognition of past achievements but as a greater responsibility to serve the people with sincerity, loyalty and dedication.
The Governor also emphasised the importance of teamwork, warning against personal interests and unnecessary rivalries that could undermine the administration’s objectives. He maintained that effective governance depended on honest advice, cooperation and a shared commitment to the collective interest of the state.
Highlighting his administration’s priorities, Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed that peace and security remained central to his government’s agenda. He pointed to efforts to strengthen Operation Rainbow, improve community-based security initiatives and train approximately 1,500 personnel to support security operations across the state.
He also highlighted ongoing investments in healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, water supply, sanitation, transportation and road infrastructure, noting that the interventions were aimed at improving living conditions, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
Acknowledging the challenges that remained, the Governor urged the appointees to remain accessible and responsive to the needs of the people, especially women, young people, farmers, entrepreneurs and vulnerable groups. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to rebuilding affected communities, promoting peaceful coexistence and creating opportunities for citizens to live and prosper with dignity.
Governor Mutfwang also expressed concern over the fresh attack in Gyero village, Jos South Local Government Area, describing the incident as troubling in view of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security and protect lives and property.
He called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help prevent further attacks and facilitate swift responses to security threats.
Reaffirming his administration’s vision, the Governor declared that “the time is now” to deepen the pursuit of peace, strengthen institutions, accelerate development and ensure purposeful leadership across Plateau State.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, the Chairman of the Plateau State House of Assembly Service Commission, Rt. Hon. Titus Alams, thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in them and assured him that they would not take the opportunity to serve for granted.
Alams acknowledged the responsibility that came with their appointments, noting that their contributions would form part of the administration’s legacy. He also appreciated the State APC Chairman, the Secretary to the Government of the State, the Head of Service, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, and the spouses and families of the appointees for their support.
The ceremony underscored the administration’s expectation that those entrusted with public responsibilities would work collectively to strengthen governance, sustain peace and deliver meaningful development to the people of Plateau State.
