On Democracy Day, Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs, the PDP Governorship Candidate for Plateau State, chose to spend the moment where it mattered most by the bedsides of those hurting.
He visited the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, to meet with residents of Gonjang, Mangu LGA. Eight(8) lives were lost in the recent attack, and 19 others are still receiving treatment. Their pain is Plateau’s pain.
Led by Mr. Pam Ishaya, a son of Gwonjang, the delegation received Hon. Biggs and his campaign team with mixed emotions, grief, but also gratitude that someone came.
Hon. Biggs walked through the wards, spoke with patients, held hands, listened, and prayed with families. “Democracy means nothing if we forget our people in their darkest hours,” he said. “Today we remember those we lost, we honor the strength of those healing, and we promise you will not be abandoned.”
As a gesture of support, he made a cash donation to help with medical bills and immediate needs of the injured and their families.
For Hon. Biggs, Democracy Day was not about rallies. It was about showing up for Gonjang.
