As Nigeria marks Democracy Day 2026, the Management and Staff of the Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA), under the leadership of Dr. Solomon Dawal Kwande, join millions of Nigerians in celebrating the enduring values of democracy, good governance, and people-centered development.
On this special occasion, PLASCHEMA extends warm congratulations to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Executive Governor of Plateau State, for their leadership and commitment to advancing the welfare of Nigerians.
Democracy finds its true meaning not merely in elections and political participation, but in the tangible improvements it brings to the lives of ordinary citizens. It is measured by the opportunities created, the services delivered, and the hope restored in the hearts of the people. In Plateau State, one of the clearest reflections of democratic dividends is the growing access to affordable and quality healthcare through PLASCHEMA. With the unwavering support of the Mutfwang administration, the agency has continued to expand health insurance coverage across the state, ensuring that healthcare is no longer a privilege reserved for a few but a right accessible to many.
Today, thousands of civil servants, retirees, farmers, traders, market women, artisans, and other vulnerable groups are benefiting from the state’s social health insurance programme. These efforts have significantly reduced financial barriers to healthcare and brought renewed confidence to families who can now seek medical attention without the burden of catastrophic out-of-pocket expenses. Particularly noteworthy is the inclusion of retired civil servants in the health insurance scheme, alongside the government’s decision to fully subsidize healthcare premiums for thousands of vulnerable citizens.
These interventions underscore a strong commitment to equity, social inclusion, and the broader goal of achieving universal health coverage for all Plateau residents.
As Nigeria celebrates another year of democratic governance, PLASCHEMA remains steadfast in its mission to build a healthier and more productive society by ensuring that every citizen, regardless of social or economic status, has access to quality and affordable healthcare services.
Democracy thrives when governance touches lives positively, and healthcare remains one of the most meaningful ways to demonstrate that commitment.
PLASCHEMA therefore joins all Nigerians in celebrating this year’s Democracy Day and looks forward to a future where the benefits of democracy continue to translate into better health, greater prosperity, and improved well-being for all.
Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria.
