PDP governorship aspirant, Mr Sunday Garba Biggs, has visited Plateau Central headquarters, Pankshin Local Government where he held a strategic engagement with PDP local government leaders from the zone, ward leaders, party faithfuls, and elders.
He also formally declared his interest in contesting for the governorship of Plateau State.
What was initially planned as a modest parlor meeting quickly transformed into a highly attended gathering, as supporters and admirers of the BiggThings Coming movement thronged the PDP party office to warmly receive him.
Mr. Biggs was received by the Zonal Party officials, party leaders, elders, and ward executives.
In his address of welcome, the Zonal Chairman reaffirmed the party’s commitment to unity and pledged the support of the Central Zone leadership toward a successful and coordinated gubernatorial process. He emphasized the need for collective responsibility in ensuring the PDP emerges stronger and victorious.
In his response, Mr. Sunday Biggs expressed sincere appreciation to party faithfuls and stakeholders for their continued trust and confidence. He used the opportunity to formally present his declaration of interest to the Central Zone executives and party leaders, stating his readiness to offer purposeful leadership for the progress of Plateau State.
He urged party leaders to sustain unity and fairness by providing a level playing ground for all aspirants. According to him, democratic contests should be guided by competence, capacity, and the ability to deliver, which remain essential qualities for anyone seeking to emerge as the party’s flag bearer.
He appreciated party leaders and stakeholders for their unwavering loyalty and sacrifices toward the growth and stability of the PDP.
In his words:
“PDP remains the party of true loyalty. Despite challenges, our members have remained steadfast. Plateau is PDP, and PDP is Plateau”.
He stressed that “there is hardly any politician in Plateau whose roots are not connected to this party.”
According to him, he is “contesting for the governorship because, in the past three years, the state has lacked the leadership it deserves. I am not only a capable driver but also a certified mechanic to drive the desired governance for the state. He noted that with over twenty years of dedicated service, he prepared and qualified for this responsibility.
He further assured stakeholders that a single four-year tenure would be sufficient to reposition Plateau State for sustainable development. He reaffirmed his commitment to the zoning principle, firmly dispelling rumors that he intends to alter the existing arrangement or exceed the remaining tenure allocated to the Central Zone. He stressed that fairness, integrity, and respect for party agreements would remain central to his leadership.
According to him, Plateau State stands on the threshold of transformation, with BiggThings Coming under his leadership.
During the engagement, several party leaders delivered goodwill messages, highlighting the strength, resilience, and legacy of the PDP. They commended Hon. Biggs’ track record, describing him as a credible and capable aspirant ahead of the forthcoming primaries.
The Ngas cultural group further enlivened the event with a colorful cultural dance performance, symbolizing unity, peace, and solidarity within the party.
In a touching moment, a visually impaired woman who was passing by was given the opportunity to address Mr Biggs. She presented him with handmade items produced by her and expressed her support, stating:
In her words, “I have always supported the PDP. Though I have been concerned about recent developments, I am encouraged by the new direction. Mr. Sunday Biggs is the leader Plateau needs.”
Moved by her gesture, Mr. Biggs commended her resilience and entrepreneurial spirit and presented her with campaign materials and offered financial support to support her business.
