Plateau Central Youths Unite Across Ethnic Lines, Endorse Gov. Mutfwang for Second Term

Young people from Plateau Central Senatorial Zone came together in Mangu Local Government Area for the maiden edition of the Youth Connect and Inter-Ethnic Parley, an event focused on promoting peace, unity, and stronger relationships among ethnic nationalities in the zone.

The gathering, organised by the Coalition of Plateau Central Indigenous Ethnic Youths, was held at the NUT Hall in Mangu and attracted participants from at least 13 ethnic groups across the five local government areas of Plateau Central.

The atmosphere at the event reflected a sense of hope and togetherness as youths from different backgrounds interacted freely, exchanged ideas, and discussed ways of strengthening peaceful coexistence and development in the zone.

Speaking during the event, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Bldr. D. G Jipal, described the parley as a historic step towards rebuilding trust and fostering unity among young people in the zone.
According to him, the initiative was designed not only to encourage friendship among ethnic groups but also to create opportunities for mentorship, cultural exchange, and meaningful dialogue among the youths.
He explained that over the years, political differences and social divisions had affected relationships among communities, adding that the programme was organised to bridge those gaps and encourage collective progress.
DG Jipal appreciated the Plateau State Government for supporting the initiative and for its continued efforts in promoting peace, youth empowerment, and development across the state.
He noted that the large turnout and active participation of the youths demonstrated their willingness to contribute positively to society and support responsible leadership.

Also speaking at the event, the Leader of the Coalition of Plateau Central Indigenous Ethnic Youth Nationalities, Amb. Fuddang Farti Ishaku, said youths across the zone had unanimously endorsed Governor Caleb Mutfwang for a second term in office.
He said the endorsement was based on what he described as visible developmental projects being executed by the governor across Plateau Central, particularly in the areas of road construction and infrastructure development.
Ishaku maintained that the governor’s efforts have renewed hope among many communities and encouraged greater confidence in leadership among the youths.

The event featured interactions among participants, cultural displays, and discussions centred on peacebuilding, unity, and the future of Plateau Central.
