Plateau State has taken a significant step towards promoting inclusive economic growth, with the Plateau State Micro Finance Development Agency (PLASMIDA) forging a groundbreaking partnership with the state government. This collaborative effort, which also involves the Plateau State Disability Rights Commission and the Plateau State One Stop Investment Centre (PS-OSIC), aims to empower people with disabilities by providing them with enduring business opportunities.
The partnership was formally launched at a stakeholders forum held on June 5th at the Banquet Hall of the New Government House in Jos. Themed “Disability-Inclusive Business and Skills Development for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities in Plateau State,” the event brought together a diverse range of participants from the business sector, government, academia, and development partners, including the Sustainable Economic Development Cluster (SEDEC) of GIZ.
This landmark initiative underscores Plateau State’s commitment to creating an enabling business environment that promotes inclusivity and equal opportunities for all, regardless of their abilities. By providing people with disabilities with access to business opportunities and skills development, the state aims to unlock their full potential and promote economic growth that is truly inclusive.
