2027: DARIYE JETTISON SON’S AMBITION, BACKS MUTFWANG’S CHOICE
…GROUP POISE FOR SHOWDOWN

Unlike most political stalwarts who groom their offspring to succeed them, a former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye, has reportedly taken a contrary stance by distancing himself from his son’s parliamentary ambition, sparking firestorm within his political stronghold.
Reports reaching THE BEACON reveal that Dariye has allegedly denied his blessings and support for his son, Nanle Miracle Dariye, who has indicated interest and purchased forms to contest the Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
THE CONFRONTATION
Insiders, speaking on the condition of anonymity, alleged that when Nanle accompanied by a delegation of elders visited his father to present his contest forms and seek paternal blessing, the former Governor flared up. Dariye reportedly chided the delegation, stating he had been looking for the individuals encouraging his son to vie for the House of Representatives.
Sources claim Dariye made it clear that his priority is ensuring the success of the incumbent Governor, Caleb Mutfwang. He reportedly insisted that his son should demonstrate loyalty by supporting whoever Mutfwang presents for the seat, emphasizing that the Governor should be given the chance to determine the candidate for that constituency.
While Dariye did not explicitly name the incumbent, observers concluded Hon. Ishaya David Lalu, as the beneficiary of the current political alignment.
When contacted via text message for clarification, Senator Dariye remained guarded, stating only: “I have not made any public statement in that regard.”
A HOUSE DIVIDED
The development has triggered resentment among Nanle’s supporters. Many point to the “unflinching loyalty” Nanle showed his father during his legal battles and his significant sacrifices for the APC in 2019. Ironically, Nanle is also credited with working tirelessly for the emergence of the very man, Ishaya Lalu, whom his father now seemingly prefers.
Critics within Dariye’s circle blame a “cabal” of elderly advisers for misguiding the former Governor, saying they should leave politics and return to their early job at National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, and hide and skin trade.
These insiders opine that the elders’ group is repeating the same tactical errors that led to the perceived betrayal of Patrick Dakum at the 2023 general elections by their principal.
Furthermore, observers allegedly noted a peculiar dynamic: despite Dariye’s overtures to the current administration, Mutfwang’s media and protocol teams frequently downplay Dariye’s presence at official functions, suggesting the “lifeline” he seeks may not be reciprocated with the respect he expects.
THE MUSHERE FACTOR
Despite the lack of paternal backing, Nanle’s campaign appears to be gaining significant momentum.
In a rare show of Mushere ethnic solidarity, sources within the Mushere Chiefdom reveal that seven aspirants for the Bokkos State House of Assembly seat have voluntarily dropped their ambitions.
These aspirants have reportedly collapsed their structures to focus exclusively on Nanle’s House of Representatives bid. According to local sources, there is a growing sentiment in Mangu and Bokkos that “the time is ripe for the emergence of a new leader,” with many viewing Nanle as the figurehead of this generational shift.
As 2027 approaches, the Mangu/Bokkos constituency is now positioned as a primary battleground, not just between parties, but between a father’s strategic alignment and a son’s growing grassroots movement.
