The Central Planning Committee (CPC) for the 2026 Puus Kaat Annual Cultural Festival officially unveiled plans for this year’s celebration at a press conference led by its Chairman, Builder Jerry Satmark. He was joined by other CPC members and heads of various sub-committee. Addressing members of the press and invited guests, Builder Satmark warmly welcomed attendees and expressed appreciation for their presence and continued support. He described the Puus Kaat Festival as more than a cultural event, emphasizing its role as a living expression of the heritage, values, and renowned hospitality of the Mwaghavul people.
He noted that the festival has, over the years, remained a powerful symbol of unity and identity, an opportunity for the community to honour its past while sharing its rich traditions with a wider audience.
Theme and Vision
The Chairman announced the theme for the 2026 edition as:
“Mwaghavul Heritage, Digital Future: Preserving Culture Through Innovation.”
According to him, the theme reflects a deliberate commitment to preserving cultural heritage while embracing modern tools and innovation. He stressed that the goal is not only to protect tradition but to ensure it continues to evolve and remain relevant for future generations.

A Marathon Race to promote unity, fitness, and community participation
The Miss Culture Pageant, showcasing beauty, intelligence, and cultural pride
A Symposium aimed at fostering intellectual dialogue and reflection
The traditional Tubbwor Game, highlighting indigenous recreational heritage
A Community Medical Outreach, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to public health and wellbeing
Festival Schedule
The grand finale of the festival is scheduled for Saturday, 25th April 2026, with formal approval from relevant cultural and governmental bodies.
Leading up to the finale, a series of activities will set the tone for the celebration:
Wednesday, 22nd April: Activities will begin with guided tours of notable local sites, followed by an awareness rally and the official opening ceremony in the evening.
Thursday, 23rd April: The focus will shift to arts and culture, with competitions, storytelling sessions, and a Mwaghavul Film and Music Night.
Friday, 24th April: The day will feature the symposium, traditional Tubbwor games, and the cultural pageant.
Saturday, 25th April (Grand Finale): The festival will culminate in a cultural dance competition, a grand procession from the Mishkaham’s Palace, and the main celebration event.

In his closing remarks, Builder Satmark described Puus Kaat as “more than a festival, it is a movement.” He highlighted its importance as a platform for youth engagement, cultural preservation, tourism development, and community unity.
