The Board and Management of Atjoda Hope Foundation, led by the Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Chief Josephine Abbas Dayilim, recently paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Dr. Haggai Gutap of NG-CARES, Plateau State, to honour him with the Foundation’s prestigious Peace Ambassador Award.

The objectives of the visit were to recognize Hon. Dr. Haggai Gutap for his contributions to community development and peacebuilding, to present the Peace Ambassador Award to him, to seek collaboration for widows, youths, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, and to identify with him as a role model. The team was warmly received by Hon. Dr. Haggai Gutap and his staff.

In her address, the Founder and CEO, Hon. Chief Josephine Abbas Dayilim, stated that Dr. Gutap was selected for his exemplary leadership in NG-CARES and his peace-loving lifestyle. She explained that the recognition was not simply about presenting an award, but about appreciating individuals whose contributions, whether publicly recognised or not, make a difference in the lives of others. According to her, people like Dr. Gutap serve as positive example, especially at a time when Plateau State needs more voices and individuals committed to peace, unity and mutual understanding.

She used the occasion to specially commend His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for allowing non-governmental organizations and humanitarian organizations to work freely in Plateau State without harassment, for supporting NGOs like Atjoda Hope Foundation to carry out humanitarian outreaches to bring relief to those affected by crisis and the less privileged in Mangu and other Local Government Areas, and for creating an enabling environment for development partners to support Government’s efforts in restoring peace and hope to Internally Displaced Persons and vulnerable households. She said this open-door policy of the Governor has encouraged NGOs to succeed in their activities and support the livelihoods of the vulnerable in the state.

She further informed that the Foundation recently empowered 200 widows in Mangu with 10kg of rice and One Thousand Naira cash each for petty trading, as part of its ongoing humanitarian outreach. She noted that the Foundation needs continuous support from NG-CARES, Government, Organizations and well-spirited individuals to reach out to widows, youths and people living with disabilities and the less privileged, particularly those affected by crisis in Bokkos, Barkin-Ladi, Bassa, Riyom, Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas and other areas.

The Peace Ambassador Award plaque was formally presented to Hon. Dr. Haggai Gutap.

In his response, Hon. Dr. Haggai Gutap thanked Atjoda Hope Foundation for the honour and commended Hon. Chief Dayilim for her humanitarian work. He appreciated the Founder and CEO and the entire team of Atjoda Hope Foundation for their efforts in reaching out to vulnerable people and bringing hope to communities. He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting causes that promote peaceful coexistence and improve the lives of people, particularly those who need assistance and encouragement.

He also aligned with the Foundation to commend His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his visionary support to NG-CARES and to all NGOs in the State, noting that the Governor’s commitment and funding has enabled NG-CARES to bring economic recovery, cash transfers and livelihood support to vulnerable families across the 17 Local Government Areas and has made humanitarian work easy.

He pledged continued partnership with Atjoda Hope Foundation and expressed its willingness to deepen its relationship with individuals and organisations whose activities align with its vision of making a positive difference in society.

Atjoda Hope Foundation described the visit as a meaningful engagement and a celebration of Dr. Haggai Gutap’s commitment to peace, hospitality and service to humanity. The Foundation also expressed appreciation to him for the warm reception accorded the delegation. As part of its future plans, the Foundation said it would continue to strengthen its empowerment initiatives. The visit was very successful, cordial and impactful. The engagement ended with prayers for lasting peace, unity and prosperity in Plateau State, followed by a group photograph.

It is recommended that the Foundation should follow up for possible enrollment of widows empowered in Mangu into NG-CARES empowerment windows.
