REPORT ON THE ONE PLATEAU UNITY FORUM STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT HELD IN ABUJA

The One Plateau Unity Forum successfully convened its Stakeholders Engagement today in Abuja, bringing together sons and daughters of Plateau State residing in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs. The gathering provided a platform for reflection, dialogue, and renewed commitment toward unity and sustainable development in Plateau State.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Longbap Dinfa D., Chairman of the Plateau Unity Forum, emphasized that the event became necessary in light of the growing challenges confronting the state. He highlighted issues such as banditry, insecurity, and political divisions as major concerns that demand collective action. According to him, the forum was organized to bring key stakeholders together to chart a constructive path forward. “Plateau State belongs to all of us, and we must protect it jealously,” he concluded.

The programme was held under the distinguished chairmanship of Hon. Joseph Bukar, Member representing Shendam Constituency at the Plateau State House of Assembly. His paper underscored the need for a state-wide data strategy to drive Plateau’s long-term development.

2. Challenges of Primary School Education in Plateau State

Presented by Nimzing Lar, Teacher, SUBEB Lafia

Nimzing Lar addressed the worrisome decline in the quality of primary education in Plateau State. He outlined systemic challenges and recommended practical reforms, including teacher training, improved learning environments, and stronger community involvement to revitalize basic education.

3. Pep Agriculture and Economic Opportunities on the Plateau

Presented by Dr. Sani Dawop, GM, Human Asset Management, Dangote Group

Dr. Dawop shed light on the vast agricultural potential of the Plateau and introduced innovative approaches that can transform the sector. His presentation stressed that with the right investments and modern techniques, agriculture could significantly boost the state’s economy and provide sustainable livelihoods.

4. Digital Innovation in Tracking Banditry and Insecurity

Presented by David Daser, President, Digital Bridge Institute, FCT Abuja

David Daser discussed cutting-edge technological tools that can aid the fight against insecurity in Plateau State. He emphasized that digital innovation—ranging from data analytics to surveillance technologies—can empower security agencies and communities to detect, track, and respond swiftly to threats.
