Chakfem Youth Movement Condemns Fulani Militia Attacks, Demands Justice and Protection

Jos, Plateau State, August 22, 2025.

The Chakfem Youth Movement (C.Y.M) held a press conference today to condemn the recent attacks by Fulani militias on Chakfem Chiefdom in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The movement’s leadership, representing the entire people of Chakfem Chiefdom, strongly denounced the repeated attacks, which have resulted in the loss of innocent lives, destruction of homes, displacement of families, and loss of livestock.

According to the movement, the attacks are not spontaneous but well-planned and strategically executed with the sole agenda of dispossessing the people of their ancestral lands.

The C.Y.M leadership acknowledged the swift response from the government in deploying security agencies to the affected areas and providing relief materials. However, they emphasized the need for permanent security measures to be put in place to protect the communities.

The movement made several demands, including:

• Permanent deployment of security personnel in the communities
• Improved road network to ease movement and access to emergency services
• Enhanced network coverage to facilitate communication
• Establishment of a permanent mobile station and sentry to monitor the borders
• Deployment of Agro-rangers to protect the borders
• Apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators
• Concrete efforts to guarantee lasting peace and justice in Mangu Local Government and Plateau State

The C.Y.M reaffirmed its determination to partner with the government and security operatives to defend their land, heritage, and dignity.

The movement called on the Plateau Youth Council leadership, civil societies, religious bodies, and peace advocates to join them in demanding justice and protection for the people of Chakfem Chiefdom.

The press conference was attended by representatives of the Chakfem Youth Movement, community leaders, and journalists. The press briefing was read by Mr. Paul Yakbang, and the event took place at De-Bridge Suites, opposite Hillcrest, Jos.
