Plateau Under Attack: Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, Condemns Brutal Killings in Jebu Bindi Village

The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, has condemned the brutal killings that occurred in Jebu Bindi village, Riyom Local Government Council, Plateau State. The Minister made his stance known during a condolence visit to the community on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Prof. Goshwe expressed his deep sadness and concern over the loss of 27 lives in the attack that took place on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. “These are not good days for us. I’m sad because I’m coming for the third time as a minister to this local government, and all because we’ve lost people,” he lamented.

The Minister, who conveyed the condolences of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the community, assured them that the President is deeply grieved by the incident. He also held a private meeting with selected community members to gather firsthand information, which he will present to the President for immediate action to stop further killings.

In his remarks, the village head, Da. Pastor Kim Nani Manja, appreciated the Minister’s visit, saying it showed love and respect for humanity. He called on the President to intervene and stop the killings, which have become a recurring decimal in the community since 2001.

Da. Manja revealed that the community had always been hospitable to the Fulani herdsmen, giving them free land to graze. However, despite their kindness, the community has not known peace due to the incessant attacks. He urged the President to take decisive action to end the killings and restore peace to the community.

Prof. Goshwe, who described the killings as inhuman, assured the community that he will do everything within his power to ensure that justice is served. He also promised to work with the relevant authorities to provide relief materials to the affected families.

The Minister’s visit was seen as a beacon of hope by the community, who have been calling on the government to intervene and end the killings. With the Minister’s assurance, they hope that their cries will finally be heard, and peace will be restored to their community.
