Yesterday, Dr. Fabong Jemchang Yildam convened a youth conference tagged “Mentors Guide: Accountability in the Governance Space.” The event, which took place at Jos business school, aimed to promote responsible leadership, address the often-negative perceptions of leaders, and inspire a new generation of leaders.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Fabong Jemchang Yildam emphasized the importance of accountability in governance. He noted that the conference was designed to provide a platform for young people to engage with experienced leaders and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the country.

The conference featured two keynote speakers: Mr. Bamshak Bigwan and Mr. Ndubuisi Onyema. Mr. Bigwan spoke on “Self Leadership: The Compass through Tough Times,” emphasizing the importance of personal leadership and responsibility. He encouraged the participants to take ownership of their lives and to develop the skills and qualities necessary to become effective leaders.

Mr. Onyema’s presentation, “The Power of Thoughts: How Your Mind Shapes Your World,” focused on the role of mindset in shaping individual and collective outcomes. He encouraged the participants to cultivate a positive and growth-oriented mindset, and to recognize the impact of their thoughts and attitudes on their lives and communities.

Following the keynote presentations, the participants engaged in group discussions on various topics related to governance, leadership, and accountability. Each group presented their findings and recommendations, providing a platform for shared learning and collective problem-solving.

The conference culminated in a call to action by Mr. Alex Ladan, who emphasized the need for sustainability and follow-through on the ideas and commitments generated during the conference. He encouraged the participants to remain engaged and active in promoting accountability and good governance in their communities.
