Empowering Plateau State’s Built Environment Sector: A Commitment to Excellence in Construction and Procurement

The Executive Governor’s Strategy and Result Delivery Office (SRDO) recently held a pivotal training session at the Millennium Event Centre, Domkat Bali Road, aimed at advancing best practices in contemporary construction and procurement within Plateau State’s built environment sector. This initiative is part of the executive governor’s strategic vision to uplift construction standards and ensure excellence in public sector projects across the state.

Representing His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Deputy Governor, Josephine Piyo, expressed gratitude to the SRDO, led by Maisamari Modibo, for organizing this impactful training. She highlighted the governor’s unwavering commitment to setting high standards in construction and procurement, emphasizing the administration’s focus on sustainable development practices.

In her remarks, Deputy Governor Piyo acknowledged the contributions of the keynote speakers from various professional fields who shared insights on implementing industry best practices. She reiterated the state government’s dedication to embedding these standards in all its projects.

The event featured remarks from key representatives of professional bodies. Pius Gutul, chairperson of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), underscored the essential role of quantity surveyors in maintaining accuracy and accountability in construction. The Nigerian Institute of Builders (NIOB) representative emphasized the need for professionalism in building practices, while Engr. Meshach I. Alpha of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) spoke on the importance of upholding high standards in town planning.

As a gesture of appreciation and encouragement, awards were presented to each of the professional bodies represented, recognizing their dedication to advancing construction and procurement standards in Plateau State.

This training session not only showcased the administration’s proactive approach but also highlighted the collaborative efforts between the government and industry experts to shape a sustainable and progressive future for Plateau State’s built environment sector.
