Youths and women across Plateau State have reaffirmed their support for Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, pledging to sustain the unity and collective commitment needed to advance his administration’s vision ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commitment was expressed at the Mutfwang Unity Night, held at Yelwa Club, Jos, which brought together youth groups, women leaders, political stakeholders, government appointees, heads of agencies and members of the State Executive Council for an evening of political engagement, reflection and celebration.
Representing Governor Mutfwang, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Builder. Jerry Satmak, commended the organisers for bringing together supporters of the administration and providing a platform to strengthen solidarity and promote a shared vision for the state.
Satmak highlighted the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, peace and security, noting that the government remained focused on addressing the challenges facing Plateau State while delivering projects and programmes aimed at improving the lives of citizens. He urged supporters to extend the same spirit of cooperation to the 2027 Mutfwang/Piyo Campaign Organisation as preparations for the forthcoming elections intensify.
In his remarks, one of the organisers, Mr. Istifanus Gideon, said the gathering was conceived as an opportunity to appreciate the leadership of Governor Mutfwang, recognise the administration’s efforts and bring supporters together to deepen their sense of belonging.
He noted that the administration had made significant efforts in peacebuilding, infrastructure, agriculture and human-capacity development, describing the governor as a leader whose priority was delivering tangible results. Gideon added that the Unity Night was also intended to foster understanding, strengthen relationships and promote peaceful coexistence among the diverse ethnic and religious communities in Plateau State.
The Director-General of the 2027 Mutfwang/Piyo Campaign Organisation, Sir. Joseph Ari, emphasised the importance of unity, mutual respect and constructive engagement in the political journey ahead. He said the campaign organisation would focus on communicating the administration’s achievements and programmes to the electorate while seeking their continued trust and support.
Ari assured that the campaign would be issue-based and conducted without acrimony, blackmail or personal attacks. He stressed the need to reach out to communities across the state, listen to the concerns of the people and address areas where further efforts were required. He also called for greater political participation and stronger representation of Plateau State at the national level to attract more opportunities for its people.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Prince Miaphen, called on young people to support the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mutfwang in 2027. He commended the governor for creating opportunities for youth participation in governance and urged young people to take advantage of these opportunities while contributing meaningfully to the development of the state.
The event attracted several prominent personalities, including the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Grace Suwa; former Senate Minority Leader and Plateau North senatorial candidate, Senator Simon Mwadkwon; APC Plateau State Women Leader, Hon. Longret Tokden; Hon. Josephine Abbas Dayilim; former member representing Mangu South State Constituency, Hon. Bala Fwangje; and Chairperson of the Plateau State Commission for Women and Gender, Barr. Olivia Dazyem, alongside other political leaders and stakeholders.
Beyond the political conversations, the Unity Night provided an opportunity for participants to interact, celebrate and strengthen existing relationships. Musical performances added colour to the occasion, while a documentary presentation showcased projects and programmes executed by the Mutfwang administration across various sectors of the state.
The event was convened by Engr. Appolos Samchi, Mr Istifanus Gideon and other stakeholders, who brought together supporters and political leaders under a common platform to promote unity, recognise the administration’s efforts and build momentum towards the 2027 elections.
