PLASMIDA and NG-CARES launched Phase One of their operational grant at Mangu IDP camp, expressing their appreciation to His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.

Today, the Plateau State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (PLASMIDA) in collaboration with Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N-CARES) launched the first phase of the operational grant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Mangu Local Government Area IDP camp. The event saw the presence of several dignitaries including the Director General of PLASMIDA, Hon. Bomkam Ali Wuyep, and Dr. Haggai Gutap, the Plateau State Technical Administrative Head of Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery Stimulus.

Other notable attendees included Mr. Gideon Dandam, the coordinator of FADAMA III; Barr. Samson Karami, Team Lead DLI 3.2; and several other officials. The team first visited His Royal Highness, Da. John Putmang Hirse, the Mishkaham Mwaghavul, where Hon. Wuyep introduced the delegation and outlined the mission of their visit.

Hon. Wuyep took the opportunity to express condolences to the Mangu LGA over the recent attacks that have displaced many residents. He conveyed the commitment of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, to addressing the security challenges and facilitating the return of IDPs to their homes. Dr. Gutap emphasized that the Governor is acutely aware of the hardships faced by the IDPs, and as part of the support measures, the operational grant forms would benefit approximately 500 individuals across 13 villages in the LGA.

Dr. Gutap announced that similar initiatives would be extended to Bokkos LGA and Mikang LGA the following day. Additionally, he mentioned plans to provide fertilizers to the beneficiaries to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure a successful harvest season.

His Royal Highness, Da. John Putmang Hirse, expressed gratitude to the Governor and commended the efforts of Hon. Wuyep and Dr. Gutap. He voiced his confidence in their leadership and their commitment to supporting the community.

At the IDP camp, Mr. Mathias Sokhoden, representing the Mwaghavul Development Association, expressed appreciation on behalf of the IDPs. He thanked Governor Mutfwang, PLASMIDA, and N-CARES for the initiative and urged the government to expedite efforts to resettle the displaced persons back to their ancestral homes.

The launch of this operational grant marks a significant step in providing much-needed relief and support to the IDPs in Mangu LGA, reflecting the government’s dedication to addressing the challenges faced by displaced communities in Plateau State.
