RIYOM LOCAL GOVERNMENT DONATES 40 ZALFA MOTORCYCLES TO SECURITY AGENCIES, TRADITIONAL RULERS, OTHERS TO TACKLE INSECURITY

The Executive Chairman of Riyom Local Government Council, Hon. Sati Shuwa, has donated 40 new Zalfa motorcycles to security agencies in the Council area to bolster patrols and tackle insecurity.

The benefiting security agencies include the Special Task Force (STF), the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Vigilante Group, and Operation Rainbow, among others.

In addition, the Council donated motorcycles to the Primary Health Care and Revenue Departments. Other beneficiaries include Traditional Rulers, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), and all the 17 electoral wards of the Local Government Area.

While presenting the motorcycles to the security outfits, Hon. Shuwa said the gesture was to assist security agencies in conducting surveillance and intelligence gathering that would facilitate their work in the ongoing onslaught against insecurity in the Local Government Area.

The Council Chairman highlighted the contributions of security agents to the development of the Local Government Area as outstanding, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting them with logistics and welfare to ensure peace and stability.

While applauding the security forces for their sacrifices and commitment, the Council Chairman urged them to reciprocate the gesture by intensifying intelligence gathering and surveillance in suspected red zones, and by swiftly bringing criminals terrorizing the area to justice.

The Council Chairman also assured citizens of his administration’s readiness to ensure that no part of the Local Government Area is left vulnerable.

Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Simon Mwadkwon, described the gesture as the first of its kind. He noted that security is a collective responsibility that requires partnership and support to tackle the growing insecurity across the country.

On his part, the Liaison Officer to the Executive Governor of Plateau State for Riyom Local Government, Timothy Dantong, lauded the Council Chairman for the initiative. He urged the security agencies to reciprocate the gesture by intensifying efforts toward safeguarding the lives and property of the people.

Leader of the Riyom Local Government Legislative Arm, Mafeng Mwanjal, commended the Chairman for the initiative and assured him of their support to enable his administration to succeed.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of Riyom Local Government, Gideon Ntoy, lauded the Council Chairman for his administration’s commitment to strengthening the security situation in the Local Government Area and urged citizens to give him the desired support to enable him to win the fight against insecurity in Riyom Local Government Area.

Da-Gwom Rwey of Riyom, His Royal Highness Samuel Jok, also praised the Council Chairman for the proactive intervention and called on all stakeholders to support the government’s efforts to restore lasting peace in the area.

The Royal Father noted that the Motorcycles donated will go a long way in easing the movement of the Security Operatives.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Dauda Dashi appealed to the public to support the Government and the security forces with useful information that would lead to the arrest of criminals in the Local Government Area. And assured the Chairman of their readiness to continue to support him to succeed in delivering on his mandate for his people.

The beneficiaries appreciated the Council Chairman for the gesture and promised to ensure the judicious use of the Motorcycles given to them.

The highlight of the event was a symbolic presentation of the Motorcycle keys to the beneficiaries.
