2027: Sunday Biggs Promises Fairness, Security, and Grassroots Governance

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs, has assured Plateau citizens of his commitment to preserving the state’s zoning arrangement if elected in the 2027 general elections.

Biggs gave the assurance during a press briefing in Jos shortly after emerging as the PDP governorship flagbearer, where he outlined his vision for a more inclusive, secure, and development-driven Plateau State.

The Mangu born politician said his decision to contest for the governorship was inspired by a genuine desire to provide purposeful leadership capable of addressing the challenges confronting the state.
According to him, his over two decades of experience in public service and administration have given him a deep understanding of governance and the expectations of the people.

“Plateau State deserves leadership that listens, understands the realities of the people, and is prepared to deliver practical solutions. My experience in government has exposed me to the needs of our communities and the kind of leadership Plateau citizens truly desire,” Biggs stated.

He stressed the need for a new governance approach, noting that the state could not continue to rely on old methods while expecting different outcomes.

“Plateau needs a fresh direction and a governance model that prioritizes results, accountability, and People centered policies. We must move beyond the old ways of doing things if we truly want meaningful progress,” he added.

Speaking further on his governance style, Biggs promised to operate an inclusive administration anchored on grassroots participation and community engagement.

He explained that his government would adopt a bottom-up approach where communities would actively contribute to decision-making processes, particularly in project identification and implementation.

“We want communities to have a voice in governance. Development becomes more impactful when government listens to the people and responds directly to their needs,” he said.

On the issue of insecurity, the PDP candidate advocated for a community-based security structure that would involve families, local communities, local government councils, and the state government in intelligence gathering and surveillance.

He also pledged to revive and strengthen Operation Rainbow as part of broader efforts aimed at improving security and restoring public confidence across Plateau State.

Reaffirming his position on zoning, Biggs maintained that he would respect the existing arrangement in the state and only serve the remaining four years allocated to the Plateau Central Zone if elected governor.

According to him, the zoning system has continued to promote fairness, equity, stability, and peaceful coexistence among the various zones in the state.
“I believe strongly in fairness and unity. Zoning has helped maintain balance in Plateau State, and I want to be remembered as someone who respected and protected that arrangement for the sake of our collective peace and progress,” he stated.

Biggs further called on Plateau citizens, political stakeholders, and the media to support visionary leadership that would transform the state’s challenges into opportunities for growth and sustainable development.
