The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, along with the Commander of Operation Safe Haven, convened a Stakeholders Meeting to address security concerns in Mangu and Bokkos Local Governments.

In a concerted effort to address the prevailing security challenges in Mangu and Bokkos local governments, a stakeholders meeting was convened by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Safe Haven. The meeting aimed to foster dialogue and collaboration among key stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the incessant attacks witnessed in Mangu and Bokkos.

The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Governor of Plateau State, who was represented by Hon. Ephraim Usman. Major General Christopher Agundu (Rtd), representing the Chief of Army Staff, the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Chief Ephraim Usman, representative of the director general of Plateau Peace building agency were also in attendance. Additionally, traditional leaders from both local governments, including HRH. Da. John Putmang of the Mwaghavul traditional Council and Ardos from Mangu and Bokkos, community leaders, and other critical stakeholders who have been victims of the attacks were present.

During his address, Maj. Gen. AE Abubakar emphasized the need for stakeholders to cease all criminal activities immediately. He reassured farmers in Mangu that security measures are in place to ensure their safety during the upcoming rainy season, dispelling rumors that insecurity would deter farming activities. Abubakar also outlined the strategies in place to facilitate the return of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their homes.

Furthermore, Abubakar cautioned against the spread of fake news, highlighting its detrimental impact on exacerbating the prevailing security situation. He showcased fake videos circulating on social media platforms as examples, urging the public to verify information before sharing.

Critical stakeholders, including HRH Da John Putmang, the Mishkaham Mwaghavul, Mr. Sunday Dankaka, Hon. Idi Bamaiyi, and Hon. Justice Julie Kyentu, expressed their concerns and emphasized the urgent need to restore peace in the two local governments. The Director of Programs at the Plateau State Peace Building Agency and Major General Christopher Agundu (Rtd) also shared their insights and suggestions for fostering peace and security in the region.

Overall, the stakeholders meeting provided a platform for constructive dialogue and collaboration among key players, signaling a collective commitment to restoring peace and security in Mangu and Bokkos local governments.
