The Plateau State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) on Tuesday, 11th February 2025, commissioned its Zonal and Local Government Area (LGA) offices and carried out the symbolic presentation of motorcycles to team leads. The event took place at the PLASCHEMA Zonal Office in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The occasion attracted several high-profile dignitaries, including the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Arc. Samuel N. Jatau; the Commissioner for Health, Hon. Nicholas Bamlong; the Executive Chairman of Barkin Ladi LGA, Hon. Pwajok Gyang; the Chairman of Jos North LGA, Barr. J.K. Chris; the Chairman of Jos East LGA; the Chairman of Riyom LGA; as well as other key stakeholders and community leaders.
In his welcome address, the Director General of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Kwande Solomon Dakwal, warmly received Arc. Samuel N. Jatau and other distinguished guests. He explained that the establishment of the zonal offices was strategically structured to enhance resource allocation and provide technical and operational support to contiguous local government offices. According to him, this structure is designed to strengthen program implementation and ensure that health insurance services reach the last mile across Plateau State.
Dr. Dakwal expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Executive Governor of Plateau State, for his unwavering support and commitment to strengthening the state’s health insurance scheme.
In his remarks, Arc. Samuel N. Jatau, who performed the commissioning of the offices and motorcycles, emphasized the significance of the initiative. He stated that the offices and motorcycles are not merely tools for outreach and supervision, but critical instruments for inclusion and mobilization of enrollees. He noted that the initiative would help ensure that the benefits of the Plateau State health insurance scheme extend to every corner of the state until the last mile is reached. He further commended PLASCHEMA staff for their dedication and the remarkable progress recorded so far.
The Commissioner for Health, Hon. Nicholas Bamlong, also applauded PLASCHEMA for what he described as a commendable and strategic initiative aimed at deepening healthcare access and strengthening service delivery across the state.
In his goodwill message, HRH Da. Edward Gyang Bot, the Gwom Rwei expressed gratitude to PLASCHEMA for designating Barkin Ladi LGA as the Zonal Office for the Plateau Northern Zone.
Similarly, Barr. J.K. Chris (Chairman, Jos North LGA), Hon. Pwajok Gyang (Chairman, Barkin Ladi LGA), and the Chairman of Riyom LGA all commended the agency for the initiative and pledged their continued support to ensure its success.
The commissioning ceremony marks a significant milestone in PLASCHEMA’s efforts to decentralize operations, improve supervision, enhance enrollee mobilization, and expand access to quality healthcare services across Plateau State.
