Sing for Plateau Organisers Hold World Press Conference Ahead of Upcoming Event

The organisers of Sing for Plateau on Monday, 3rd February 2025, held a world press conference as part of preparations for the highly anticipated creative showcase. The event brought together key stakeholders from the Plateau State creative and tourism sectors, reflecting strong government support for the initiative.

In attendance were the Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Hospitality, Hon. Cornelius Deyok; the General Manager of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Hon. George Chuwang Pwajok; the Special Assistant to the Executive Governor on Creativity and Entertainment, Barr. Ezra Jinang; the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor on Tourism and Culture, Dr. Ephraim Dankyes; alongside other stakeholders within the state’s creative industry.

Speaking at the press conference, Barr. Ezra Jinang described Sing for Plateau as a strategic initiative aimed at rebranding Plateau State through creativity and talent. He explained that the project, which coincides with Plateau State’s Golden Jubilee celebration, is designed to discover, promote, and reward creative talents across the state.
According to him, the competition is open to singers, poets, content creators, and other creatives, with winners set to receive a prize of ₦1 million each. He emphasized that the initiative provides a platform for young talents to express themselves while projecting a positive image of Plateau State to the rest of the country and beyond.

Also speaking, Hon. Cornelius Deyok commended His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, for supporting initiatives that promote culture and tourism. He noted that the core intention of Sing for Plateau is to change the narrative about Plateau State, both locally and internationally. The commissioner added that the state is rich in untold stories and cultural heritage, and the initiative will help bring many positive stories to the fore.

In their separate remarks, Hon. George Chuwang Pwajok and Dr. Ephraim Dankyes applauded the vision behind Sing for Plateau and pledged their full support to ensure its success. They reaffirmed their commitment to working with Barr. Ezra Jinang and other stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the initiative.

The press conference concluded with optimism that Sing for Plateau will not only celebrate creativity but also reposition Plateau State as a hub for cultural expression and tourism.
