It is with great honour and a deep sense of responsibility that I stand here to appreciate you all for the wonderful opportunity and support to stage the maiden Made-in-Plateau Business Carnival. This historic five-day event stands as a bold testament to our collective commitment to Strengthening the Plateau State MSME Ecosystem through Synergies and Eco-Smart Entrepreneurship, which is also the theme of this year’s carnival.
This program didn’t emerge by chance. It’s the fruit of yearnings of our teeming Nano, Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) for access to market, access to finance, and business development supports. Our vibrant MSMEs who went through the Inspire, Create, Start and Scale (ICSS) modular training of GIZ hosted by PLASMIDA and other GIZ partner organisations (POs) in Plateau State expressed the need for a unified platform to showcase their products, deepen collaborations, attract investment, and amplify the Made-in-Plateau identity.
Today, we’re witnessing the closing ceremony of what can be described as “the beginning of a new economic culture; one driven by partnership, innovation, and sustainability” in Plateau, by Plateau, for Plateau and the wider world.
I appreciate His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, for his unwavering support in stimulating the economic fortunes of Plateau State and creating an enabling business environment. I’d also like to thank the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the State, Arc. Samuel N Jatau, and the MSME Council, and the Ease of Business Committee for their immense support.
My special thanks to the DG PLASMIDA, Hon. Bomkam Wuyep, for the timely leadership and guidance throughout the planning of this event. He deployed his human resources and personal finance to ensure the program’s success.
Our gratitude also goes to the German International Cooperation, GIZ, for their consistent motivation and encouragement. Their support has empowered MSMEs to take ownership of their growth, champion Public-Private Dialogue, and initiate solutions that truly reflect local realities.
I also recognize the remarkable contributions of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Commissioners, and other stakeholders. Your collaborations and partnerships have shown that the Plateau MSME ecosystem is building bridges, not walls.
In conclusion, I salute the Plateau State Government for giving us assurance in sustaining this initiative as an annual event. To the TWG team, you sacrificed to do this, let’s do it again! Plateau State is ready to stand tall as a hub of creativity, enterprise, and eco-smart innovation. Together, we can position Plateau MSMEs for regional competitiveness, national relevance, and global visibility.
Thank you all, and I wish us a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance.
