Senator Diket Plang, representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, on Monday, January 19, 2026, held a media chat with members of the press where he reviewed his performance in office and addressed key infrastructural and legislative interventions affecting his constituency.
Speaking candidly, the Senator rated his performance positively, noting that despite the relatively short period he has spent in the Senate, he has remained focused on delivering tangible results for his people.
A major highlight of the engagement was the long-awaited Jos–Akwanga–Gombe road network, which Senator Plang described as critical to economic growth, regional connectivity, and the safety of road users across Plateau and neighboring states. He emphasized that he personally sponsored and presented a motion on the floor of the Senate, calling for the inclusion of the road in the federal road infrastructure plan. According to him, the motion was duly read and debated at the Senate plenary.
The Senator explained that his appeal was directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to consider the strategic importance of the Jos–Akwanga–Gombe road and approve it as part of his administration’s legacy projects.
In the same vein, Senator Plang commended the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his firmness and sustained advocacy, which he said played a significant role in ensuring the road’s inclusion. He noted that development is a collective effort and acknowledged the importance of collaboration between elected officials at all levels.
Reacting to claims in some quarters that no motion existed regarding the road project, Senator Plang dismissed such assertions, insisting that due legislative process was followed. He stressed that no single individual should monopolize credit for developmental achievements, adding that progress is achieved when all stakeholders contribute their efforts in good faith.
To further reassure the public, the Senator disclosed that an official award letter for the road project would be issued, providing concrete evidence of the federal government’s commitment to the project.
Beyond infrastructure, Senator Plang also highlighted his legislative efforts toward the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Kanke Local Government Area, a move he described as crucial to improving access to quality healthcare for residents of Plateau Central and its environs.
He concluded by reaffirming his dedication to effective representation, transparency, and service to his constituents, assuring them that more people-oriented interventions would follow.
