The Plateau State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms, was on Monday, 19th January 2026, warmly received at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos, following his return from Morocco where he represented Plateau State and Nigeria.
Hon. Ashoms was part of the Nigerian delegation at an international football engagement in Morocco, where Nigeria emerged victorious in the third-place match against Egypt, recording an impressive 4–2 win.
The Commissioner was received by the Plateau State Director of Sports, Prof. Ezra Gunen, alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Directors, officials, and a large gathering of Plateau youths who came out to welcome him. While addressing the reception, Hon. Ashoms described the trip as a highly educative and enriching experience, noting that it exposed him to best practices in sports development and administration. He assured that the knowledge and experience gained would be effectively applied to improve sports development in Plateau State.
The Commissioner also expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for the support and confidence reposed in the delegation, stating that such encouragement continues to motivate the growth of sports in the state. He further encouraged Plateau youths to always promote the state positively, stressing the importance of unity, hard work, and belief in local potential. According to him, Plateau State is blessed with exceptional leadership and abundant talent, which must be nurtured and showcased to the world.
Hon. Ashoms reaffirmed his commitment to using sports as a tool for youth empowerment, development, and positive representation of Plateau State at both national and international levels.
