The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development and health promotion through a strategic collaboration with the University of Jos to host the 2025 Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) Games.
As part of this partnership, the Director General of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Solomon Kwande, alongside other directors of the agency, paid a courtesy visit to the University of Jos, the host of this year’s event.
During the visit, Dr. Kwande exchanged warm pleasantries with Dr. Bernard Doro, the newly appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, and Prof. Ishaya Tanko, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Kwande, who is also a proud alumnus of the University, expressed his delight in partnering with his alma mater to support this historic sporting event. He encouraged all participating athletes to prioritize their health and undergo medical checks before competing, emphasizing that “good health is the foundation for excellent performance.”
Dr. Kwande further highlighted PLASCHEMA’s ongoing efforts toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Plateau State, stressing the agency’s dedication to ensuring that every citizen has access to affordable and quality healthcare services.
He also used the opportunity to appreciate the unwavering support of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, for his continued encouragement and commitment to the agency’s goals.
The visit culminated in a tour of various sporting venues across the University campus, where the PLASCHEMA delegation interacted with athletes and officials, reaffirming the agency’s interest in promoting health and wellness among the youth.
The collaboration between PLASCHEMA and the University of Jos marks another milestone in strengthening the link between health, sports, and community development in Plateau State.
