The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) took a significant step towards enhancing healthcare delivery and progressing towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Plateau State. On Thursday, September 25, 2025, PLASCHEMA, led by Acting Director General Dr. Dawal Kwande, held a meeting and training session with staff from six local government areas in the Central Zone.
The event was a platform for PLASCHEMA to outline its key areas for improvement and initiatives. Dr. Kwande emphasized the importance of health insurance in reducing financial stress on members and called on staff to double their efforts to achieve greater heights. He stressed that the collective responsibility of achieving UHC was crucial, highlighting ongoing challenges such as uncovered residents and families facing poverty due to health expenses.
Ruth S. Fada, Acting Director of Human Resources and Administration, highlighted the importance of public service ethics, including punctuality, dedication, and maintaining a good public image. She urged staff to renew their commitment to excellence and teamwork, emphasizing that these values were essential for effective service delivery.
Dr. Dawal Kwande Solomon, Operations and ICT Director, reviewed the legal foundation of PLASCHEMA under the Plateau State Contributory Health Care Management Act (2019). He reiterated the agency’s commitment to equitable access, quality healthcare, and financial risk protection, outlining operational roles and periodic program reviews.
The event featured training sessions on various topics, including quality management systems, marketing and business development, and financial management. Dr. Julfa Jude Nden emphasized the importance of quality management in healthcare delivery, while Mrs. Theresa Gofwen stressed the need to market health insurance schemes effectively. Mrs. Atline discussed the importance of accurate financial records and reports.
