The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has taken a significant step towards enhancing healthcare delivery in the state. On September 18, 2025, the agency’s Acting Director General, Dr. Dawal Kwande, outlined seven key areas of focus aimed at deepening healthcare services in Plateau State.

During a meeting and training session held in Jos, Dr. Kwande emphasized the agency’s commitment to improving healthcare services. He highlighted the need for collective effort towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the state. The meeting brought together staff and ad-hoc staff from six local government areas in the Northern Zone.

The seven key areas identified by Doctor Kwande are designed to strengthen the agency’s operations and improve healthcare service delivery. These areas include increasing enrollment in both formal and informal sectors, strengthening local government offices, supporting facility desk offices, automating performances, deepening capacity building, strengthening staff welfare, and ultimately, improving healthcare service delivery.

Dr. Kwande commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his appointment, stating that it is not only a recognition of his individual efforts but also a call to action for all staff members to rise to the challenge. He emphasized that the journey to Universal Health Coverage is far from complete, with many residents remaining uncovered, enrollees struggling at points of service, and families falling into poverty due to health costs.

In her remarks, Acting Director of Human Resource and Administration, Ruth Fada, emphasized the importance of the meeting and training session. She stated that the gathering was an opportunity for staff to reflect, share ideas, and deliberate on ways to strengthen the agency. Fada tasked participants to renew their dedication to excellence and teamwork, emphasizing that these values are essential for effective service delivery.

The meeting and training session marked a significant milestone in PLASCHEMA’s efforts to enhance healthcare delivery in Plateau State. With a clear roadmap and a renewed commitment to excellence, the agency is poised to make a positive impact on the lives of residents in the state.
