PLASMIDA’s 2024 Business Enabling Environment Dialogue: A Major Step Towards Economic Growth in Plateau State

The 2024 Business Enabling Environment Dinner, held on December 10, 2024, was a groundbreaking evening of dialogue, collaboration, and progress. Organized by the Plateau State Micro Finance Development Agency (PLASMIDA) in collaboration with the Plateau State Investment and Property Company (PIPC), Plateau State One-Stop Investment Centre (PL-OSIC), and supported by GIZ, the event brought together key stakeholders, including His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, and business leaders, to chart a path for economic growth and development in Plateau State.

The evening’s panel discussion was a highlight of the event, featuring heads of MDAs, including PLASMIDA, Plateau Express, Gender Commission, PL-OSIC, PIPC, JMDB, PSIRS, and Power. These leaders shared their achievements and unveiled plans to enhance the business environment for MSMEs in 2025.

Hon. Bomkam Wuyep, the Director General of PLASMIDA delivered a comprehensive progress report, highlighting several key accomplishments. These included the successful distribution of IT enhancement tool grants to 1,000 nano businesses and operational support grants of ₦50,000 to 5,000 beneficiaries under the NG-CARES Result Area 3 initiative. Additionally, PLASMIDA launched the MSME Policy, establishing a comprehensive framework to foster entrepreneurship and economic growth.

Other notable achievements highlighted by Hon. Wuyep included the launch of the Plateau Job Centre, a partnership with the German government that has trained over 800 participants and merged 35 individuals into jobs. PLASMIDA also conducted financial literacy training, empowering over 800 women and youths across 10 rural communities. Furthermore, Hon. Wuyep announced the imminent implementation of the ₦1 Billion Matching Fund to support MSMEs.

The event reinforced Plateau State’s commitment to fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive sustainable economic development and innovation. With a focus on creating an enabling environment for MSMEs, addressing unemployment, and reducing poverty through human capacity development and access to funding, Plateau State is poised for economic growth and development.
