Rt. Hon. Dr. Yusuf Gagdi, the member representing Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam, led a delegation from the federal ministry of education, the National Universities Commission (NUC), and the National Commission to assess and facilitate the upgrade of the Federal College of Education in Pankshin to a Federal University of Education.
As an alumnus of the institution, Gagdi emphasized his commitment to the development of Plateau State, which motivated him to sponsor the bill for the institution’s upgrade. He expressed gratitude to the traditional council for their support and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his role in advancing the project.
Dr. Cecilia Ubah, leader of the assessment committee, praised Gagdi’s efforts in making the upgrade a reality. Dr. Funsho Olumoko, the chairman of the governing council, and the institution’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Christiana Fwenji, also commended Gagdi for his contributions.
The Emir of Kanam, Dr. Mohammed Mua’zu II, representing the chairman of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, pledged support for the university and lauded Gagdi for his achievements. HRH Nde Jika Golit, Nglong Ngas, and other attendees praised Gagdi’s unprecedented work in the region and called for his continued representation.
