Chief of Army Staff Commissions Renovated School Facilities and Motorized Boreholes in Mangu and Riyom Local Government Councils

In a significant stride towards enhancing educational infrastructure and promoting civil-military cooperation, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ta Lagbaja, commissioned the renovation of primary school facilities in Mangun, Mangu LGA, and similar projects in Hoss community, Riyom LGA, Plateau State. These projects, equipped with high-standard toilets and motorized boreholes, were inaugurated as part of the Nigerian Army Day celebrations.

During the commissioning ceremony in Mangun, Major General Godwin Mutkut, a native of the community, hosted Lt. Gen. Lagbaja. Major General Mutkut expressed his profound gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for the impactful intervention and acknowledged the efforts of the supervisory engineer and others who contributed to the project’s success.

Representing the executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Secretary to the State Government, Arch. Samuel Jatau, commended Lt. Gen. Lagbaja for choosing Plateau State for these significant projects. He appreciated the Army’s initiative in Mangu LGA, the governor’s home region, and highlighted the potential positive impact on the local communities.

In his address, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja underscored the importance of the projects in marking the Nigerian Army Day. He emphasized that the projects are part of the Army’s civil-military cooperation efforts and warned against any political exploitation of the initiative. He also praised Major General Mutkut and Architect Levi Ladan for their excellent work during the construction.

His Royal Highness, Da. John Putmang Hirse, the Mishkagham Mwaghavul, extended his deepest appreciation to Lt. Gen. Lagbaja on behalf of the host community and other stakeholders in the LGA.

Following the event in Mangun, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja proceeded to Hoss community in Riyom LGA, where he inaugurated newly furnished classrooms, motorized boreholes, and toilets in the Hoss Community Secondary School. The Chairman of Riyom LGA, Hon. Sati Bature, expressed his gratitude by presenting a ram and potatoes to Lt. Gen. Lagbaja as a token of appreciation.

These initiatives underscore the Nigerian Army’s commitment to fostering community development and supporting educational advancement through civil-military cooperation.
