The Plateau State Contributory Health Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) held a pivotal meeting on Wednesday, engaging healthcare facilities and health management organizations to discuss key strategic issues. The gathering focused on evidence-driven strategic purchasing, efficiency, quality of service delivery, costing, and data management.
Dr. Agabus Nanfwang Manasseh, the Director General of PLASCHEMA, welcomed attendees, expressing gratitude for their support of the agency’s vision. Dr. Dawel Kwande Solomon outlined the meeting’s purpose, emphasizing the critical need for improved efficiency and quality in service delivery.
A significant highlight was Dr. Solomon’s presentation of a facilities study analyzing service delivery efficiency. The study revealed a technical efficiency score of 51% and a quality healthcare score of 60%, underscoring the necessity for enhancements in both areas.
Dr. Nden Julfa Jude addressed the importance of quality data management within PLASCHEMA. He defined quality data and identified key success factors, stressing the essential role healthcare facilities play in maintaining and managing this data.
Further discussions delved into managing care systems, PLASCHEMA tariffs, and contemporary issues affecting the agency. Dr. Solomon elaborated on PLASCHEMA’s funding mechanisms, which rely on contributions from organizations and registered members. Phram. Wuyep David Danladi urged desk officers to relay meeting outcomes to their MDs and CEOs, highlighting the justification of costs and the path forward.
In his closing remarks, Phram. Danladi appreciated participants’ contributions and extended safe travel wishes on behalf of the DG. He called for a concerted effort to improve efficiency, quality care, and data management within PLASCHEMA. The agency’s goal remains to enhance access to primary care services and elevate the overall quality of healthcare delivery in Plateau State. The meeting gave opportunity for healthcare facilities and HMOs to interface on some teething issues concerning the operationalizing of the scheme ranging from review of Tarif, premium, efficiency in referral among many others.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing healthcare standards, ensuring that PLASCHEMA continues to serve as a cornerstone of health management in the state.
