Dr. Haggai Gutap Leads NG-CARES Inspection: Infrastructure Advancements in Plateau Northern Zone

On June 14, 2024, Dr. Haggai Gutap, the technical administrative head of the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) program, led an inspection team across three Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the Plateau Northern Zone. Accompanying him were Mr. Gideon Dandam, coordinator of Fadama III (RA2), and Engr. Esther Agoh, head of Disbursement Linked Indicator (DLI) 2.2, which focuses on infrastructure.

The inspection commenced at the Farin Lamba-Gurum road. The team was warmly received by HRH Dr. Danladi A. Kasuwa, who expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Haggai Gutap and his team. The royal father lauded Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, stating that no previous governor had shown such dedication to their community. Other community members, including Sarkin Kasuwa Hausawa, echoed this sentiment, praising the government’s commitment to their welfare.

Next, the team visited Jos East to inspect the Febas road network. Jibrin Ali, a community leader, welcomed the delegation and thanked the government for their concern. He highlighted how the road intervention would facilitate the transportation of farm produce, significantly improving the community’s economic activities.

The final stop was in Barkin Ladi, where the Nding Seut road network was under review. Village head Dara Samson Bitrus expressed heartfelt appreciation for the rehabilitation efforts. He also took the opportunity to highlight the security challenges faced by his community, underscoring the importance of the road project in improving their situation.

Dr. Haggai Gutap, representing the government, reaffirmed Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s commitment to providing high-quality road networks across all 17 LGAs of Plateau State through World Bank support. He noted that Plateau State ranks third in project execution efficiency, attributing this success to the governor’s relentless efforts.

Mr. Gideon Dandam elaborated on the role of their organization in ensuring good road networks and providing essential resources like fertilizer to enhance community livelihoods. Engr. Esther Agoh, the engineer in charge of the projects, reiterated the government’s dedication to creating accessible roads for communities throughout Plateau State.

This inspection tour underscores the significant strides being made in infrastructure development in Plateau State, reflecting the administration’s resolve to improve the quality of life for its residents through strategic interventions and community-focused projects.
