FELLOW PLATEAU YOUTHS…

Today, we gather to celebrate a remarkable milestone in our nation’s history: 25 years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria. This is a momentous occasion, not just for our country, but for us as the youth of Plateau State. It signifies a quarter-century of continuous progress, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of freedom and equality.

As we reflect on this journey, we acknowledge that the path has not always been smooth. The challenges we face as Nigerian youths are real and pressing. Unemployment, insecurity, and economic hardships have tested our resolve and aspirations. Yet, amidst these difficulties, we have persevered and continue to strive for a brighter future.

Our democracy, though imperfect, has provided a foundation for growth and the opportunity to shape our destiny. It is within this democratic framework that we must channel our energies and efforts to bring about the change we wish to see. The power of our democracy lies in our collective voice and our ability to influence the direction of our nation.

As the leader of the Plateau Youth Council, I stand before you with a message of hope and determination. Our dreams for a better tomorrow are not unattainable. They require our unwavering commitment to education, innovation, and active participation in the democratic process. We must continue to educate ourselves, to seek knowledge and skills that will empower us to create solutions to our challenges.

We must also remember that change does not come overnight. It is the result of persistent effort, collaboration, and the courage to face obstacles head-on. Let us draw inspiration from the past 25 years and look forward with optimism. Our forebears laid the groundwork, and it is now our responsibility to build upon it with vigor and creativity.

To my fellow youths on the Plateau, I urge you to remain steadfast in your pursuit of excellence. Engage in community development, support one another, and hold our leaders accountable. Participate in the democratic process—not just by voting, but by staying informed, advocating for policies that benefit us all, and standing up for justice and equality.

In conclusion, let us celebrate this 25th anniversary of uninterrupted democracy with a renewed sense of purpose. Let us honor the sacrifices of those who fought for this democratic space by making meaningful contributions to our society. Together, we can overcome the challenges we face and pave the way for a prosperous and equitable Nigeria.

Thank you, and may God bless Plateau State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Comr. Lot Adas
Chairman, Plateau Youth Council.
